A fire broke out in two decommissioned train carriages parked near Galle Railway Station earlier today, prompting a swift response from local emergency services.

According to officials, the affected carriages were part of a group of four that had been taken out of service and stationed at the site. The blaze was contained to two compartments, preventing it from spreading to the remaining units.

At least two fire engines from the Galle Municipal Council were deployed to the scene and worked to bring the situation under control. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or casualties have been reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and further investigations are expected.
