Sri Lanka is taking urgent steps to ensure a stable supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the coming months, according to industry officials.

Chairman of Litro Gas Lanka, Channa Gunawardana, revealed that a stock of 42,000 metric tons of LPG belonging to Sri Lanka is currently stationed in the Maldives. Efforts are already underway to transport the shipment to the island as quickly as possible. He noted that this quantity would be sufficient to meet the country’s demand for the month of April.

Looking ahead, Mr.Gunawardana also confirmed that a separate vessel carrying 33,000 metric tons of LPG required for May is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on April 25.

Meanwhile, Laugfs Gas CEO Nalinda Kurukulasuriya stated that an additional shipment of 7,000 metric tons is expected to reach the island on April 4, further strengthening short-term supply.

These coordinated shipments are expected to ease concerns over potential shortages and ensure uninterrupted gas availability for consumers and businesses across the country.
