Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, the former head of Sri Lanka’s State Intelligence Service (SIS), has been discharged from the National Hospital Colombo after receiving treatment for a sudden illness.

Following his release, Sallay was taken back into custody and returned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he remains under detention.

He was initially arrested on 25 February in Peliyagoda as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. Authorities are currently holding him under a 90-day detention order while probing his alleged links to the attacks.
