Importers confirmed that stocks are sufficient to meet demand for the next three months, and no price increases are planned until after the upcoming New Year season.
Companies highlighted that fuel quota restrictions have affected deliveries, prompting the Minister to direct them to register for a special data collection program. The initiative aims to identify the fuel requirements of transport service providers involved in food distribution and improve sector planning.
The discussion was attended by senior ministry officials, including Secretary K.A. Wimalenthirarajah, Additional Secretary Gilma Dahanayake, and directors from trade and consumer authorities, as well as representatives from Lanka Sathosa and the Cooperative Wholesale Trading Corporation.
