Mr. .Sarath Sepala Ratnayake has been selected for the prestigious position after a special meeting, chaired by the Basnayake Nilame of the Kataragama Devalaya, Thilina Madusanka, along with members of the Lay Custodian Council.
The proposal to appoint Sarath Sepala Ratnayake was put forward by T.R. Karunaratne and seconded by Ananda T. Ratnayake.
Mr. Sarath Sepala Ratnayake also serves as the “Perahera Balana Rala,” a key position responsible for overseeing ceremonial processions and rituals involving the deity.
The discussion regarding the appointment was attended by several key officials, including the Devalaya Secretary Dayananda Adikari (Mahabhethme Secretary), Office Secretary to the Basnayake Nilame A.M. Sanath,
