The National Transport Commission (NTC) is set to seek Cabinet approval tomorrow to implement a new bus fare increase, following a surge in Sri Lanka White Diesel prices.

NTC Director General Dr. Nilan Miranda said the diesel price rise, when applied to the bus fare calculation formula, has increased current fares by more than 10 percent, prompting the proposed adjustment.

The fare revision will take effect once Cabinet approval is obtained, reflecting the rising fuel costs affecting the public transport sector.
