During the ceremony, tributes were paid to police officers who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation. In addition, the Inspector General led the recognition of officers who demonstrated outstanding performance and dedication in their duties.
The event served both as a solemn remembrance of fallen heroes and as an occasion to honor excellence within the police force.
In observance of Police Heroes’ Day, which falls on March 21 to honor officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, the Sri Lanka Police paid tribute with a ceremonial offering to the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy this morning.
The event was attended by Inspector General of Police, Attorney Priyantha Wijesuriya, who participated in the morning Multhandana (first offering) ceremony at the Dalada Maligawa.
Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Central Province, Lalith Patnayake, along with senior police officers from Kandy and Matale divisions and close relatives of officers who laid down their lives in service, were present for the distinguished occasion.
During the ceremony, the Inspector General of Police placed the police divisional flags in front of the Sacred Tooth Relic and offered blessings and prayers for all police personnel, paying homage to their courage and dedication.
