The provinces of Western Province, Sabaragamuwa Province, North Western Province, and Uva Province are likely to experience these conditions. In addition, localized showers are expected in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya.
Meanwhile, the rest of the island is expected to remain mostly dry throughout the day.
Early morning conditions may bring mist to elevated and low-lying areas in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in districts including Kalutara and Kurunegala. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, particularly during thundershowers, as temporary localized strong winds and lightning could pose risks. Taking precautionary measures is strongly recommended to minimize potential damage.
Sea Conditions
At sea, showers or thundershowers may occur in areas off the coast stretching from Trincomalee to Galle via Batticaloa and Hambantota.
Winds are expected to be south-easterly or variable, with speeds ranging between 20–30 km/h. Overall sea conditions will remain slight around the island. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas may occur during thundershowers, posing hazards for fishermen and those at sea.
The public, especially coastal communities and seafarers, are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
