Currently, SLC is conducting an eight-week specialized training program for all nationally contracted players, aimed at improving fitness levels ahead of upcoming international fixtures. As part of this initiative, players are required to undergo routine physical performance evaluations to ensure they meet the required standards.
SLC stated that only players who pass these fitness tests will be eligible to compete in domestic tournaments and receive clearance to take part in the IPL.
Accordingly, Dushmantha Chameera, Pathum Nissanka, and Kamindu Mendis have successfully completed their tests and have been issued NOCs to participate in IPL 2026.
Meanwhile, Nuwan Thushara’s eligibility will depend on the outcome of his pending fitness test.
In addition, Wanindu Hasaranga, Eshan Malinga, and Matheesha Pathirana are yet to undergo the test as they continue rehabilitation for injuries. SLC noted that these players will be assessed once they complete their recovery programs.
