Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Safety and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe said the advance preparation allows goods to be sold at concessionary prices across nearly 430 Sathosa outlets without interruption, while purchasing limits on selected items will prevent hoarding and ensure fair distribution.
Customers spending over Rs. 2,500 will also receive coupons for a raffle draw at the end of April, with prizes including a BAW electric car, electric scooters, furniture sets, and smartphones. Lanka Sathosa Chairman Ravindra Fernando and participating suppliers emphasized their support for the initiative aimed at easing the public’s festive-season expenses.
This programme is part of broader government efforts to stabilize prices and make essential goods accessible to all households during the festive season.
