President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today told Parliament that Sri Lanka has refused a request from the United States to use Mattala International Airport for the movement of fighter jets.

Speaking amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the President emphasized the country’s neutral stance. “Our position is clear. In the context of any international dispute, our neutrality dictates that we shall not permit our land, maritime zones, or airspace to be utilized in a biased manner by any nation engaged in a conflict,” he stated.
