A new feature has been introduced to the vehicle fuel QR code system from today (March 19), aimed at addressing difficulties faced by the public in retrieving QR codes linked to outdated or inaccessible mobile phone numbers.

The update allows vehicle owners who registered for fuel QR codes before March 14, 2026, but no longer have access to the original phone number, to easily regain access through a simplified process.

Under the new system, users can verify their vehicle by correctly entering the vehicle number and chassis number. Once verified, they are given the option to cancel the existing registration and re-register the vehicle under a new mobile number.

By selecting the ‘Override’ option, the previous account associated with the vehicle will be automatically removed from the database, and a new account will be activated instantly using the updated details.

Authorities noted that once the existing registration is canceled, the previous user will lose all access and privileges related to that vehicle’s fuel QR code.

This feature is expected to assist rightful vehicle owners in obtaining their QR codes without unnecessary delays, particularly in cases where vehicles were registered under phone numbers no longer in use or owned by others.

However, officials have warned that unlawfully removing or overriding another person’s vehicle registration without proper legal rights is a punishable offense.
