Kalutara District MP Ajith P. Perera of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) announced that a no-confidence motion against Power Minister Kumar Jayakody will be handed over to the Speaker in Parliament tomorrow (19) at 11:30 a.m.

According to MP Perera, the motion is based on two प्रमुख allegations. Firstly, he stated that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed a case against Minister Jayakody in the Colombo High Court. He argued that once such legal proceedings are initiated, the அமைச்சர் no longer has either the legal or moral authority to continue holding office.

Secondly, Perera pointed to alleged mismanagement in the importation of coal for the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant for the years 2025 and 2026. He claimed that substandard coal had been imported, resulting in significant financial losses to the country.

The MP further noted that a large number of parliamentarians have already signed the no-confidence motion, with more expected to add their signatures tomorrow morning.

He added that, given the urgency and importance of the matter, opposition party leaders and MPs will request the Speaker to schedule an early parliamentary debate on the motion.
