The raid was carried out based on intelligence received by the Sri Lanka Army’s intelligence unit. According to officials, the suspects had been staying in several lodges in the area while allegedly conducting fraudulent online operations.
Among those arrested are 126 Chinese nationals, 4 Myanmar nationals, and 4 Taiwanese nationals, security authorities confirmed.
Officers from the Department of Immigration and Emigration also assisted in the operation.
During the raid, authorities seized a significant quantity of electronic equipment, including 96 laptops, 35 desktop computers, and 194 mobile phones, along with other technical devices believed to have been used in the alleged scams.
