The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced that more than 379,000 newly purchased vehicles have been registered under Sri Lanka’s fuel QR code system as of last evening, marking continued progress in the island-wide fuel distribution program.

According to the CPC, while a significant number of vehicle owners have already signed up, a considerable portion of newly registered vehicles are yet to complete the process. Authorities are urging all unregistered vehicle owners to enroll promptly to avoid inconvenience when obtaining fuel.

The QR-based system, introduced to streamline fuel distribution, is now being implemented across the country. It is designed to ensure fair access to fuel for all motorists while preventing hoarding and unnecessary stockpiling during periods of limited supply.

CPC further noted that global developments continue to affect local fuel availability. Ongoing tensions and conflict in the Middle East have disrupted key oil supply chains, including production facilities and transportation routes. These disruptions have contributed to a tightening of global oil supply, posing challenges for maintaining uninterrupted fuel distribution in Sri Lanka.

Officials emphasized that public cooperation with the QR registration system remains essential to managing fuel distribution efficiently during this period of uncertainty.
