The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has stated that providing education to children aged 3 to 5 through online methods is not in line with educational psychological principles and child development approaches.

In a statement issued by the ministry, it noted that several concerns have been identified regarding online seminars and classes currently conducted targeting preschool and primary-level children.

According to educational psychology perspectives, the learning process of children between the ages of 3 and 5 should take place in an environment that is activity-based and encourages social interaction.

The ministry pointed out that children in this age group spending long periods looking at screens while learning can hinder the development of social skills. It may also reduce their ability to maintain attention and negatively affect creative thinking.

The statement further emphasized that, according to government and Ministry of Women and Child Affairs policies on early childhood development, it is important for children to engage actively with their environment and learn through real-life experiences.

The ministry also warned that excessive exposure to technological devices may negatively impact children’s mental and physical health, particularly brain development. Therefore, conducting online classes for this age group is not approved.

It further informed parents that commercially organized online seminars and programs are unlikely to significantly improve children’s educational standards and may also interfere with their natural development.

Accordingly, the ministry has urged parents to be mindful of their children’s mental and physical well-being and to avoid involving them in such activities.

The ministry also stressed that for a young child, the best teacher is not a digital screen, but the surrounding environment and real-life experiences.
