A team of representatives from the International Monetary Fund is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka later this month for review discussions related to the country’s Extended Fund Facility programme.

Deputy Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando said the visit will focus on assessing Sri Lanka’s progress ahead of the release of the sixth tranche under the IMF programme.

He noted that the IMF has already released five tranches to Sri Lanka so far.

During the visit, the IMF delegation is expected to conduct a comprehensive review of the measures taken by the government in line with the conditions set under the programme to improve the country’s economic performance.

Fernando added that following the review, necessary agreements will be reached regarding the release of the sixth tranche of the IMF facility.
