Special Iftar ceremony held at the Presidential secretariat

A special Iftar ceremony, organised to mark the holy month of Ramadan observed by the Islamic devotees, was held yesterday afternoon (12) at the Presidential Secretariat, with the participation of the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

The event was jointly organised by the Presidential Secretariat and the Welfare Association of the Presidential Secretariat. PMD reported.

A special lecture on the significance of the month of Ramadan was delivered by M.F.A. Nufail Moulavi.

Following a special prayer led by A.N. Ubaidullah, the breaking of the fast commenced at 6.23 p.m., after which a special dinner was served.

During the event, the Secretary to the President also engaged in a cordial discussion with the Islamic devotees who were present at the Iftar ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake stated that the Presidential Secretariat holds a prominent place within Sri Lanka’s public sector and extended greetings on the occasion of the Iftar gathering to the entire Muslim community on behalf of the staff of the Presidential Secretariat.

He further noted that, as a multi-ethnic country, Sri Lanka continues to respect and appreciate the diverse cultures of its people. He added that the celebration of Ramadan stands as a special occasion that reflects the spirit of national harmony among the Sri Lankan people.

Also present at the event were Secretary to the President’s Fund and Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Roshan Gamage, Senior Additional Secretaries to the President Prasanna Chandith and Russell Aponsu, Assistant Secretary to the President and Secretary of the Presidential Secretariat Welfare Association, Samith Thalakiriyawa, along with Additional Secretaries, Directors Generals, Heads of Divisions and Muslim officers of the Presidential Secretariat, among others.
