Air defenses also shot down 10 ballistic missiles and 26 drones on Thursday, the Defense Ministry said on US social media company X.
The attacks killed six people, including Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi nationals, and injured 131 others, including Turkish, Egyptian, and Pakistani nationals among others.
The UAE “remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats, and will firmly confront any attempts to undermine state security in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, security and stability, and safeguards its national interests and capabilities,” the ministry said.
Regional escalation has flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people and injuring over 10,000 others, according to Iranian authorities.
Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
