All Ambassador-designates who recently met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake have received clearance from the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts, paving the way for them to assume their respective diplomatic assignments.
The appointments include:
Mr. Dharshana M. Perera – High Commissioner-designate to Malaysia
Mr. D.M.S.P. Dassanayake – Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva
Ms. Dayani Mendis – Ambassador and Permanent Representative-designate to Austria
Mr. S.P.W. Pathirana – Ambassador-designate to Romania
Ms. N.I.D. Paranavitana – Ambassador and Permanent Representative-designate to Ethiopia and the African Union
Mr. S.K. Chandrasiri – Ambassador-designate to Israel
Mr. Dhammika Fernando – High Commissioner-designate to Kenya
Mr. Anura Withanage – Ambassador-designate to Lebanon
Prof. Ms. M.I. Fazeeha Azmi – Ambassador-designate to Iran
Mr. M. Farook M. Fawzer – Representative-designate to Palestine
The President’s Media Division siad that the appointments are now formally approved, enabling the diplomats to take up their international postings.
