The programme brought together around 150 students representing School Aviation Clubs, universities and aviation training institutions, along with officials from the relevant line ministry.
The initiative provided participants with an opportunity to explore diverse career pathways in the aviation sector and gain insights into opportunities shaping the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP).
Students were guided by resource persons representing several key aviation institutions, including the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited, SriLankan Airlines Limited, SriLankan Catering Limited and the SriLankan Aviation College.
As part of the programme, participants were also taken on a field visit to the Bandaranaike International Airport to gain practical exposure to airport operations. The visit included a tour of an aircraft at the B747 hangar, coordinated with SriLankan Airlines Limited, allowing students to observe aviation operations up close.
The CAASL said the programme was organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation and with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The authority noted that it plans to continue organizing similar awareness programmes to promote aviation education among students.
The initiative also sought to inspire young people to explore opportunities in the aviation industry, with a special emphasis on encouraging and empowering women to pursue careers in the sector in Sri Lanka.
