According to the association, the price of a cup of plain tea will go up by Rs. 5, while milk tea will increase by Rs. 10. Snacks will cost Rs. 10 more, and rice and kottu dishes will rise by Rs. 25.
Restaurant owners said the increase is largely due to the recent hike in domestic gas prices reported by Litro Gas Lanka.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had also raised fuel prices with effect from midnight on March 9.
Officials said the fuel price revision followed similar increases by other suppliers operating in the country, prompting restaurants to adjust food and beverage prices accordingly.
