Former Ajith Nivard Cabraal has denied social media claims that he paid Rs. 1.84 billion in connection with the controversial Greek bond case.

Cabraal said that he had not agreed to the condition requiring him to deposit Rs. 1,843,267,595.65 and reiterated that he maintains his innocence regarding the allegations.

The Colombo High Court had earlier released Cabraal on conditions after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) withdrew indictments against him filed under the Bribery Act.

Under the arrangement proposed by CIABOC, Cabraal was required to remit Rs. 1,843,267,595.65 to an account of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka within three months.
