According to the amended Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024, the operational activities of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) were primarily transferred to four successor companies on the designated date of March 9, 2026.
CEB management stated that under the initial transfer plan, all existing CEB employees will be attached to the relevant successor companies. They further noted that arrangements are currently underway to issue appointment letters to all employees, and steps will be taken to distribute them in the near future.
However, the management pointed out that some employees have engaged in trade union action by refraining from reporting to work. They urged all such employees to immediately report for duty.
The management also emphasized that failure to report to work under the essential services regulations constitutes a serious offence, and disciplinary action may be taken against those who do not comply.
Accordingly, employees have been requested to return to work without delay.
