The government has initiated the reorganization of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) as part of a national programme aimed at maintaining the country’s public transport service in a more efficient and systematic manner.

As part of this initiative, formal steps have been taken to address the long-standing human resource shortages within the SLTB through new recruitments.

Accordingly, appointment letters were presented to 541 newly recruited drivers and conductors today (10) at the Public Auditorium of Temple Trees.

The event was held under the patronage of Anura Kumara Dissanayake, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, with the participation of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake.

The newly recruited employees are expected to strengthen the operational capacity of the SLTB and help improve the efficiency of public bus services across the country.
