Prime minister Harini Amarasuriya departs for Philippines

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya departed for Manila at midnight yesterday (08) to undertake an official visit at the invitation of the Asian Development Bank to participate in events marking International Women’s Day.

Upon arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Chanaka Thalpahewa, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Philippines, along with officials of the Philippine government and representatives of the Asian Development Bank.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at an International Women’s Day event hosted at the Asian Development Bank headquarters in Manila.

On the sidelines of the event, she is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several ministers of the Philippine government to further strengthen cooperation and bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Philippines in areas of mutual interest, according to the Prime Minister’s Media Division
