Sri Lanka’s Litro Gas Lanka says 3,700 metric tons of LP gas will be released to the local market today (March 9).

According to the company’s chairman, Channa Gunawardena, a total of 7,900 metric tons of gas has already been brought into the country in recent shipments.

He further stated that 38,000 metric tons of gas have been requested for the month of March, while an additional 30,000 metric tons are currently being held in the Maldives.

Another shipment carrying 33,000 metric tons of gas is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives on March 17, the company said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Laugfs Gas PLC, Nalinda Kurukulasuriya, stated that distribution of 3,700 metric tons of gas from a vessel that recently arrived in Sri Lanka is currently underway.

Authorities say these steps are being taken to maintain a stable gas supply to the local market.
