According to the advisory, high temperatures are likely to affect the Western Province, Sabaragamuwa Province and North Western Province, as well as the districts of Vavuniya and Mannar.
The department said that the heat index, or the temperature felt by the human body, could reach levels that require caution, particularly for people living in areas experiencing high temperatures.
Officials warned that prolonged exposure to the sun and engaging in outdoor activities may cause fatigue, while extended exposure could lead to muscle cramps due to dehydration and loss of body salts.
The Meteorology Department advised the public to drink adequate amounts of water and take frequent rest in shaded areas whenever possible.
The public has also been urged to pay special attention to elderly and sick individuals at home and to avoid leaving young children unattended inside parked vehicles.
In addition, people are advised to wear light, white or light-coloured clothing to reduce the effects of heat.
