Under this project, houses were constructed on 20-perch land plots for each family. The National Housing Authority invested Rs. 1 million for the construction of each house. With the additional labor and material contributions provided by the beneficiary families, the total value of each house exceeds Rs. 1.8 million.
A total of 25 houses were built for Adiwasi families under this initiative.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has provided clean drinking water to the village, while the houses have also been equipped with electricity facilities. In addition, proper access roads have been constructed to improve connectivity within the settlement.
Remarkably, the entire housing project was completed within a short period of seven months.
The ceremonial event to hand over the houses to the Adiwasi families was attended by Minister Samantha Vidyarathna and Dr. Susil Ranasinghe, along with several other dignitaries.
The project marks a significant step toward improving the living standards and welfare of the indigenous community in Dambana.
