Several pieces of debris believed to be from a suspected Iranian ship, IRIS Dena, torpedoed by the United States off the coast of Galle have washed ashore along coastal areas from Hikkaduwa to Seenigama today (07), according to local residents.
Residents in the area claim that diesel stains can be seen along parts of the coastline and that a number of fish have also been found dead.
They further stated that the situation has affected tourism in the area, with visitors avoiding the affected beaches.
Local residents are urging authorities to investigate the matter as soon as possible and take necessary measures to address the situation.
