Earthquake of magnitude 4.1 jolts Iran

An earthquake of Magnitude 4.1 struck west of Bandar Abbas in Iran on Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

According to USGS data, the earthquake struck 74 kilometres west of Bandar Abbas and at a depth of 10 kilometres.

On Tuesday also, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 hit Iran's southern part.

The earthquake occurred in Gerash, located in the southern part of Iran's Fars province.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), USGS had said.

The earthquake jolts come amid heightened phases of conflict between the United States and Iran, that began almost a week ago when Israel and the US launched strikes on the Islamic Republic and retaliatory attacks followed across the Middle East.
