Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets increased by 6.6% in February 2026, rising to USD 7.284 billion from USD 6.832 billion recorded in January, according to the latest data.

The increase marks the first time Sri Lanka’s reserves have exceeded the USD 7 billion threshold since August 2020, signaling a notable improvement in the country’s external financial position.

The reserve figures include proceeds received through the currency swap agreement with the People’s Bank of China.

The growth in reserves reflects continued efforts to strengthen Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange position amid ongoing economic recovery and financial stabilization measures.
