The Gazette, which takes effect on March 9, provides for the creation of six new entities responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution, and system operations of electricity.
According to the notification, the remaining provisions of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024—with the exception of several specified sections—will come into force from March 9, 2026.
