President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that 208 individuals aboard the Iranian Navy vessel IRIS Bushehr near Sri Lanka’s territorial waters are currently being brought ashore to Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Navy is making arrangements to transfer the personnel to Colombo Harbour, while the vessel itself will be moved to Trincomalee Harbour.

Speaking during a special press briefing at the Presidential Secretariat, the President also urged all parties to refrain from using the situation for narrow political purposes and emphasized that cooperation from all sides is vital for maintaining global peace.
