A 12,000-seat indoor arena within Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex was destroyed in a US-Israeli airstrike today, marking the latest in a series of criminal attacks targeting Iranian infrastructure.

The strike also leveled dormitories and a newly constructed building belonging to the Cycling Federation, while damaging windows in adjacent facilities, including the complex’s swimming pool.

Alireza Sohrabian, president of Iran’s Rowing Federation, condemned the attack as a breach of the Red Cross charter, which prohibits the targeting of sports, educational, and healthcare facilities during conflict.

In an interview with the Tasnim News Agency, Sohrabian extended condolences for the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and fellow citizens in the recent US-Israeli aggressions.

“The destruction of sports, educational, and healthcare spaces is explicitly forbidden by the Red Cross in wartime, yet today we witnessed a direct attack on a sports venue at Azadi Stadium,” he emphasized.
