He stated that 28 departing flights and 29 arriving flights were cancelled as a result of escalating tensions in the Middle East.
“Of the total, 28 flights scheduled to depart from the country and 29 flights scheduled to arrive have been cancelled,” he said.
Four additional flights scheduled for tomorrow (04) have also been called off.
Captain Rambukwella further noted that flights operating to and from the Middle East, as well as those transiting through the region to other destinations, have been temporarily suspended. However, he said a limited number of flights were operating through the region this morning.
Authorities are continuing to closely monitor the situation and are expected to issue further updates depending on developments in the region.
