A senior police officer said the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed all relevant divisions — particularly the Tourist Police Division — to step up security at hotels and locations frequently visited by foreign nationals.
The enhanced measures come amid concerns that escalating unrest in the Middle East could trigger protests or potential attacks targeting foreign embassies.
In the interim, mobile patrol units have been instructed to maintain a continuous presence in diplomatic areas and tourist hotspots, carrying out round-the-clock inspections to prevent security breaches.
Police also confirmed that 24-hour security has been provided to Chabad Centres nationwide in response to potential threats.
A senior officer attached to the Tourist Police Division said the IGP has specifically directed police and tourist officers to enhance security arrangements for foreign visitors across the country.
The move follows reports from Pakistan on Tuesday that at least 22 people were killed and more than 120 injured when violent protesters attempted to storm the U.S. Consulate in Karachi and other diplomatic facilities, resulting in clashes with security forces.
