Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has voiced deep concern over the rapidly escalating situation in Iran following developments related to armed activities reported .

In a statement, Premadasa said he was “gravely concerned” about the growing tensions and uncertainty in the region. He emphasized that at a time of such instability, ensuring the safety and security of Sri Lankans residing in the affected areas must be the government’s highest priority.

He called on the Government of Sri Lanka to immediately activate all necessary diplomatic, logistical, and emergency response measures to safeguard its citizens. According to the Opposition Leader, swift and coordinated action is essential to monitor developments closely and provide assistance to Sri Lankans who may be at risk.

Mr. Premadasa further urged authorities to maintain close communication with Sri Lankan diplomatic missions in the region and to keep families in Sri Lanka informed about the safety of their loved ones abroad.
