According to the reports, the Commission has decided to institute legal action in the High Court against the Minister and two others on charges relating to the alleged misappropriation of Rs. 8 million.
Earlier, Minister Jayakody had sought permission for his counsel to appear before the Commission to call over the matter and make oral submissions. However, CIABOC granted permission for written submissions instead. The written submissions were subsequently reviewed by the Commission before arriving at its decision to proceed with legal action.
The allegations stem from the period when Mr. Jayakody served as the head of the tender board that awarded a particular tender which later came under scrutiny.
