The Ministry has urged Sri Lankan citizens in the region to stay informed by following local news and official announcements, avoid non-essential travel especially to border or military-sensitive areas and keep away from large gatherings and protest sites. Nationals have also been advised to maintain regular communication with the nearest Sri Lankan mission, keep mobile phones charged, and carry identification documents at all times.
According to the statement, all Sri Lankan diplomatic missions have been instructed to activate 24-hour emergency hotlines to provide immediate assistance. The Consular Affairs Division and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment are also expected to announce dedicated contact numbers shortly for families in Sri Lanka seeking information about relatives in the Middle East.
The Foreign Ministry noted that, at present, there has been no significant impact on Sri Lankans in the region. Mission heads remain in close coordination with authorities in Colombo, and emergency response mechanisms are being strengthened to ensure rapid assistance if the situation changes.
Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has provided a dedicated hotline, +94 71 980 2822, for families in Sri Lanka to obtain information and assistance concerning relatives in the Middle East.
