The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has decided to dismiss, without a hearing, two Fundamental Rights petitions filed against the emergency regulations imposed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake following Cyclone Ditwah.
The petitions had alleged that the emergency measures violated fundamental human rights. The decision was delivered by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.
