The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has moved to strengthen aviation safety oversight by appointing officials to several long-vacant senior regulatory posts.

The new appointments include Deputy Director General (Flight Safety Regulation), Deputy Director General (Corporate Management), Director (Aviation Security), and Senior Civil Aviation Inspector (Aircraft Operations), positions considered critical to maintaining regulatory compliance and operational standards.

Letters of appointment were handed over on 26 February 2026 at the CAASL Chairman’s Office in the presence of Chairman Sunil Jayarathna and Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer Capt. Daminda Rambukwella.

Operating under the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, CAASL said the recruitment process was carried out in line with the Government-approved Scheme of Recruitment through a qualified interview panel.

The appointments were made under the guidance of Minister Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister Eng. Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku, and Ministry Secretary W. W. S. Mangala.

According to the Authority, filling these key vacancies is expected to reinforce regulatory supervision, aviation security, and corporate governance across Sri Lanka’s civil aviation sector.
