The Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure has announced that the special exhibition “Taste and Craft – Ella 2026” will be held tomorrow (27) and the following day (28) in Ella town, with the aim of promoting local entrepreneurship and steering the palmyrah industry towards a new growth path.
The event is organized in coordination with the Badulla District Secretariat and the Ella Pradeshiya Sabha. It will also feature a certificate awarding ceremony for participants who successfully completed a three-month specialized training program conducted by the Palmyrah Development Board’s Weerawila Training Centre.
The exhibition will showcase a wide range of value-added palmyrah-based products created by the trained entrepreneurs. In addition, institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure will present and promote various locally produced items related to cashew, kithul, and coconut industries. These products will be available for both display and sale, with the objective of attracting tourists and expanding market opportunities.
The Ministry stated that initiatives of this nature are designed to open new market avenues for local entrepreneurs, provide them with proper training, and bring ministry services closer to the public in a more efficient and accessible manner.
