Minister Vijitha Herath departs for official visit to Germany today

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, is scheduled to commence an official visit to Germany today (26), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism announced.

The two-day visit, taking place on February 26 and 27, is being undertaken at the invitation of the Bremen Branch of the OAV – German Asia-Pacific Business Association.

During the visit, Minister Herath is expected to participate in a series of meetings focused on trade and foreign employment cooperation. He will attend the 125th anniversary celebrations of the OAV Bremen Branch as the Guest of Honour representing Asia and will deliver a keynote address at the event.

Germany’s Federal Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, is also scheduled to attend the anniversary event as Guest of Honour representing the German side and will deliver a keynote speech.

The OAV – German Asia-Pacific Business Association is the largest German organization dedicated to promoting German–Asian business relations. It serves as a leading platform connecting German business leaders and policymakers engaged in the Asia-Pacific region.

On the sidelines of the visit, Minister Herath is also expected to hold bilateral discussions with Minister Wadephul and participate in a business forum focused on Sri Lanka, aimed at strengthening economic ties and expanding trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
