Sri Lanka will face New Zealand in their second Super 8 match of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup today (25) at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The day-night encounter is a must-win game for the hosts as they aim to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

New Zealand advanced to the Super 8 stage from Group D after securing three consecutive victories against Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada, earning six points in the first round. However, they suffered a defeat to South Africa in the Super 8 stage, which placed them second on the points table. Their opening Super 8 match was abandoned without a ball bowled due to rain, resulting in both New Zealand and Pakistan sharing one point each.

In today’s match, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Sri Lanka have made one change to their lineup, bringing in Charith Asalanka in place of Kamil Mishara, who featured in the previous game.

With aspirations of reaching the semi-finals of this year’s World Cup still alive, Sri Lanka must secure a victory in tonight’s crucial encounter.
