The decision was made after Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara presented a special psychiatric evaluation report obtained through the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer. The report had been called to determine whether Forrest was mentally fit to stand trial.
According to the Deputy Solicitor General, medical recommendations concluded that the accused was not in a suitable mental condition to face trial.
Taking the findings into consideration, the High Court ordered that she be released from the proceedings.
