Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe said merchandise exports accounted for US$1,165 million, reflecting a 10.5% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, services exports generated US$367 million, recording a notable 24.5% increase compared to January 2025.
He noted that key contributors to the growth in merchandise exports included tea, coconut, rubber, food and beverages, electrical and electronic products, vegetables, fruits, and seafood. In the services sector, information technology was highlighted as a particularly strong-performing segment.
Overall, Sri Lanka’s export performance in January 2026 showed significant improvement over the previous year, driven by both goods and services sectors.
