Former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Chief, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, has been arrested over ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.

He was taken into custody early this morning in Peliyagoda by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

At the time of the coordinated bombings on 21 April 2019, Sallay was serving as a Brigadier. He subsequently held the positions of Director of Army Intelligence and later State Intelligence Service Chief. Prior to his arrest, he was attached to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Malaysia as an advisor.
