Special Traffic Plan in Colombo for Sri Lanka–New Zealand World Cup Clash

A special traffic plan will be implemented around R. Premadasa Stadium tomorrow (25) in view of the निर्णing 2026 T20 World Cup match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Police Headquarters announced.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7.00 p.m., and a large crowd is expected to attend. Accordingly, the Colombo Traffic Division has introduced measures to minimize congestion in and around the stadium.

Traffic Restrictions

Vehicular movement will be restricted on the following roads on an as-needed basis:

Entrance to Babapulle from the Brito Babapulle Bridge junction along Vincent Perera Mawatha (Grandpass Road).

Entry towards the stadium from the vicinity of Babapulle Bridge.

Access to the stadium from Malwatta Bridge along Sebastian Canal Road.

Entry towards the stadium from the Temple Road junction along the 100 Feet Road.

Access to the stadium through by-roads near Maligawatta.

Entry to Temple Road from the Saddharma Mawatha/Temple Road (Khettarama Road) junction.

Parking Arrangements

In addition to the parking facilities surrounding the stadium, vehicles may be parked at:

Grandpass Matipark

Sathosa car park

Sebastian Canal car park

Kovil Road

Applewatta

Both sides of the 100 Feet Road

Security Measures

Police officers, along with plainclothes intelligence personnel, will be deployed to ensure the safety of spectators.

The public is strictly prohibited from bringing large bags, glass bottles, drones, sharp objects, narcotics, and alcohol into the stadium premises.

CCTV monitoring, body checks, and vehicle inspections will be conducted prior to the commencement of the match. Police request all spectators to extend their fullest cooperation to security personnel to ensure a safe and smooth event.
