Speaking on the matter, the District Secretary of Nuwara Eliya, Thushari Tennakoon, stated that the town remains safe and secure. She further clarified that false reports circulating on social media claiming that Nuwara Eliya town has been submerged are completely untrue.
Meanwhile, landslide early warnings have been issued for several areas within the district, including Walapane, Nildandahinna, and Mathurata. Residents in these areas have been informed and advised to take necessary precautions.
Officials, along with security forces, have taken steps to raise awareness among the public and implement required safety measures. The District Secretary also noted that all relevant authorities are on standby and fully prepared to respond to any emergency disaster situation if necessary.
